There is always a risk of danger in highways. This is most especially true if you are dealing with heavy vehicles like trucks, trailers and buses. This is the main reason for the measures being taken by the federal government to regulate highway traffic and safety. In 1986, the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act has been enacted to become a law. This law was enacted in order to require drivers of heavy equipment vehicles to acquire a driver's license which will qualify them to operate the commercial vehicles weighing 26,000 lbs and above in the highways. Commercial Driver's License or just CDL is what we call these licenses.
Many people recognize the job opportunities as well as their excellent driving skills. They also know that truck driving is the best job opportunity available for those in the middle class where they are assured of high pay. However, truck driving is not as easy as we think since this is a challenging and difficult job that needs excellent driving skills. Screening of qualified drivers starts with a test. It would be unwise to just take a test without any preparation and this makes the CDL practice test a good idea.
The cdl test is divided into two parts. The first part is the Knowledge Test and the 2nd part is the Practical Test which has actual road driving. So, if you're looking at a driving career, you should pass these exams in order to acquire the CDL license.
Before the Practical Test you should finish the first part which is the General Knowledge Test. In this part, your basic knowledge about vehicle parts and components will be tested. This also includes other factors that affect driving like cargo, passengers, combination and tank vehicles including endorsements and air brakes. The kind of driver's license which is applied for will determine whatever additional tests should be taken. If for example you will be applying as driver for vehicles transporting hazardous materials, you'll be required to pass the Hazardous Materials Knowledge Test. As for vehicles with air brakes, Air Brakes Knowledge Test should be taken and passed. Passing such tests is a pre requisite to the next section of the examination.
The second portion of the CDL test is the practical test which determines the Road Driving skills of the driver. The practical test is comprised of 3 parts. The first portion is the pre-trip inspection. Second, basic vehicle control can be tested. The last part involves the actual road driving. Again, this part will depend on the license that should be acquired for specific vehicle types.
This job is not likely for everyone since it may be rather difficult. A lot of applicants fail to hit the mark on CDL test. The CDL practice test is the means to be able to have some preparation before taking the driving tests.
